Dry Riser – Inlet Breechings

The water feed from the Fire Service pump is routed to the Dry Riser system by means of an inlet breeching which is installed at Fire Brigade level on the outside of a building.

The inlet breechings are house in a red protective box which is kept locked shut. In the case of an emergency the glass panel is designed to be broken to provide access to the hose connection by fire crews.

Ideally the inlet breeching should be positioned as close as possible to the rising main in order to minimise pressure loss- a common problem when dealing with High Rise buildings.

Consideration for the Fire Fighter’s safety should be paramount when deciding on an installation position for the inlet breeching. Ideally it should be in an easily accessed location such as along a service road large enough for vehicular access and away from fallen debris or hazardous obstructions.

Delta Fire offer a comprehensive range of dry riser inlet breechings and they are available as either a single, 2-way or 4-way pumping in breeching and comply fully with the requirements of BS5041 Part 3. The bodies are manufactured from spheroildal graphite iron and all fittings are in gunmetal making these inlet breechings extremely durable.

The 2-way dry riser inlet breeching has 2 x 2½” Instantaneous male non return valve inlets and a 4″ PN16 or Table D outlet flange. The 4-way inlet breeching has 4 x 2½” Instantaneous male non return valve inlets and a 6″ PN16 or Table D outlet flange. The 2-way and 4-way also comes complete with 1″ drain valve.
